I’m amazed (horrified) that there are still companies offering landau tops. I think it would be funny to get one on a new BMW or something.

I thought so. I’ll even go the other direction and suggest a Focus RS. The juxtaposition of the go-fast racer boy image and the 5 years from death landau top would be perfect.

Growing up, I told my dad that if he ever bought a car with a soft top that wasn’t a convertible, I’d turn it into a convertible. Soft tops are acceptable only if they go down or if they’re on a very old car. A landau top on anything post 1970 looks atrocious to me.

My parents had one of these when I was a kid. That was a factory faux convertible. Maroon over beige two-tone. It was glorious.
